i'm sure the guys on the team appreciate your support, trojan. i know they're anxious to represent gw, the hogo, and region c to the best of their ability. i must say though, there are a lot of posters on here from gate city, the lpd, and region d that i have a lot of respect for....most everyone has always welcomed my opinions even though i can easily be viewed as an outsider.

that being said, with the home crowd already fired up, emotional, and playing with a chip on their shoulder, instead, let's just say best of luck, and many hopes of an injury-free game....may the winner represent swva to it's utmost against what looks to be a strong semi's opponent in either altavista or surry.

have fun at the game, everyone....should be a good one! unfortunately, i'll have to settle to listening to this on the radio.

Funny that trojan is supporting George Wythe so admanantly - with the other Hogoheegee schools sending representatives to the VHSL meeting in Richmond to reject them (along with Lebanon) from making a case to stay in the Hogoheegee - which Lebanon as well as JSB had representatives there to make their case to stay. The Hogo representatives actually brought forth a case - which had been assembled by the other Hogo school representatives - in support of having John Battle and Lebanon removed from their district and sent on to the Clinch Mountain District.

I don't know about others, but I'd have a hard time supporting fellow district schools that went to those lengths to get my school removed from a district. [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif[/img]

Suffice to say, John Battle will find hard living I do believe in the new district when it comes to the gridiron. There will be no Holston's, Northwood's or Patrick Henry's to compete with them in the Clinch Mountain District - only Gate City, Virginia High, Lebanon and Lee. JSB has only won six football games in district within the past six years:

2006 (2-8) - defeated Patrick Henry (2-8) &amp; Holston (1-9)- winless outside of district
2005 (0-10) - winless within district &amp; winless outside of district
2004 (2-8) - defeated Holston (2-8) &amp; Northwood (1-9) - winless outside of district
2003 (1-9) - defeated Holston (0-10) - winless outside of district
2002 (1-9) - defeated Northwood (3-7)- winless outside of district
2001 (0-10) - winless within district &amp; winless outside of district

So - the only football games that the Trojans have won within the past 6 years were against Hogo district opponents Holston, Northwood and Patrick Henry. Hopefully for JSB's sake, they kept those three schools on their football schedule. Then again, do those three Hogo schools want to keep them on their football schedules even though they worked so hard to keep them from staying within their district? I agree- John Battle will have a heck of a time in their new district. The volleyball team has been mentioned as being good (of course they didn't get past Grayson Co) but they are graduating most of the best players. Their softball team is actually really good, but again I think they may be losing a lot this year to graduation. Their boys and girls basketball team didn't do much of anything this year. The football team record was shown in the previous post so i won't address that. Basically all their hopes are going to rest with baseball. And the baseball team lost the Hogo for the first time in several years last year so we'll see how it goes next year. It might be a rough year for JSB next year.

I don't see who is gonna give John Battle a hard time next year. Gate City will be down in everything except Boys Basketball. Look what they lose in volleyball, girls basketball, softball, baseball, tennis....football is already bad.
